what would be useful statistics that photoblog could provide for the bloggers?

one thing would be a comparison of the popularity of entries. i'd like to see which of my blog entries are viewed the most... which got the most comments... just for a start.

one value of this is available on the "entries" page: the total number of views for each entry. i have used this information to produce a mock up screen with excel that shows what kind of statistic with just this little information would be possible.

i'd like to get your feedback if this function would be interesting to be implemented into the photoblog functionality.

I use Google Analytics for other content I post online that I'd like to track traffic for. There are all sorts of useful reports you can get from there, like how many visits, how long people stayed, what site they came from, where in the world they are, etc...

If we had the ability to add something like that to our photoblogs, it would provide a wealth of information with very little work from Mike and Michael.

i'm not familiar with google analytics, but this sounds like a good proposal. however, i wonder if it can be done simpler by just using the internal photoblog database. obviously, hits to an entry are tracked there, and i guess it's just a matter of coding to display more statistic numbers on the "entries" page. i fear web tools like google analytics are much too confusing for most users here.

we are in the process of rolling out some basic stats you can see on the site for your blog.. just need to give us some time.. we have been talking about it for a long time now
