After an absence of a couple of months, presumably while they noshed on seeds found in abundance outside of feeders, the goldfinches have returned with a vengeance - and an appetite.

Both feeders were completely swarmed, with dozens more waiting in the nearby trees.

When I first ventured outside to take photos, they were scared off. I settled into a chair near the porch railing, and waited. Before long, they started to return. At one point I looked up and saw a cloud of a dozen or more of them arrive en masse.
