How was I to know that when I posted my picture of the day that we would get a last minute invitation to go out to dinner at one of my favorite places (the place that swings the lamps, like my September Post)?

I really love this restaurant - we always have a blast there. But, but I'd never looked at it with my (now slightly more trained) photographer's eye! I was like a kid in a candy shop - which is why it's such a big set of pics.

I hope the pictures make up for the cheating :-)

Powered by Photoblog.com

I had so many pictures that were duplicates, fuzzy, bad lighting or extra in some way (some just plain didn't make the cut to get into the album). So I did some house cleaning and got rid of them. Though I'm still fighting the urge to go get them out of the trash :-)

Powered by Photoblog.com

I love how it's changed my perspective on things. Also, since my dad loved photography it makes me feel more connected to him.

And I have to hang out to support my sis and my friend who are both taking up the challenge this year (go take a peek, it's ok, I'll wait).

So this is how I spent my day - sitting around watching football, the only fitting way to spend New Year's Day.

Powered by Photoblog.com

By 4am I was shin deep in water, setting sandbags - wearing my candy corn jammies, lime green fleece hat and gloves and my polka dot wellies (I've never been so happy to be the one behind the camera).

We spent the rest of the day setting pumps, renting extra pumps, buying hoses and more hoses, running to pick up extra sandbags and stressing out over on-line updates.

It was a long day, with not much sleep. By 4pm the ice jam that was blocking the flow of the river was cleared and the water had finally begun to recede - and I was finally able to take off my (very useful) wellies.

At 2pm the river in our back yard thawed, not usually a big deal - until it was. By 4pm the river had overflowed it's banks and was headed toward the house (it also sort of looks like we may have relocated to the Okeephenokee Swamp). At 10:30pm we had a heard of firefighters placing sandbags around our basement doors. When 2am rolled around we had the Fire Chief ankle deep in water helping us with our sump pump.

The night continued on, with lots of sandbag carrying, water pumping and worrying.

Powered by Photoblog.com
